Venue

Meudon is situated in the South-West suburb of Paris. If you stay in a hotel in Paris, we advise that you pick a hotel close to the Montparnasse train station.

 

Access to the Meudon site

Pedestrian access: Observatoire de Meudon - 5, place Jules Janssen, 92195 Meudon

The Meudon site of the Observatoire de Paris is the highest point of the Meudon city (i.e. if you are lost, walk up!).

Access via Transilien line N (departure from Gare Montparnasse)

Stop at Bellevue station, then there are 4 options:
  • Bus TIM : At the station exit, turn right; the station is on the opposite side of rue Louis Blanc. Get off at the Observatoire stop. Please note: 1 bus per hour. Timetable: in 2023, runs at 7am, 8am, 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm.
  • Bus 169 direction Paris: At the station exit, turn left and cross Avenue du Château; the station is on the left. Get off at the Rabelais stop, then see § "Access on foot from bus stations".
  • Bus 389 towards Georges Pompidou (Clamart) : The station is just outside the station, on the right. Get off at the Rabelais stop, then see § "Access on foot from bus stations".
  • On foot: Turn left out of the station and take Avenue du Château to Place Jules Janssen. The ascent takes 20-25 minutes on foot (gentle slope).
ot stop at Meudon station, then:
  • On foot: Turn left out of the station, then immediately right into rue Claude Dalsème for about 200 m, then right into avenue Le Corbeiller. Continue straight ahead until you reach Place Jules Janssen. The climb takes 15-20 minutes on foot (moderate gradient).

Access via RER C

Stop at Meudon Val Fleury station, then there are 3 options:
  • TIM bus: cross rue de Banes; the station is soon on the right. Get off at the Observatoire stop. Please note: 1 bus per hour. Timetable: in 2023, runs at 7.20am, 8.20am, 9.20am, 10.20am, 11.18am, 12.15pm, 1.16pm, 2.17pm, 3.19pm, 4.20pm, 5.20pm, 6.20pm, 7.20pm.
  • Bus 289, towards Georges Pompidou (Clamart): cross the Pont de Banes to the left, then cross Avenue Jean Jaurès; the station is on the right. Get off at Eglise de Meudon, then see § "Access on foot from bus stations".
  • On foot: cross the Pont de Banes to the left, then walk up Rue de Banes to the end. Turn left into rue de Paris, then right into rue Terre Neuve, until you reach Place Jules Janssen. The climb takes 15 - 20 minutes on foot (steep gradient).


Access via Subway + bus

  • By line 12, get off at the Mairie d’Issy terminus, then take bus 169 towards Pont de Sèvres. Get off at the Rabelais or Église de Meudon stops, then see § "Access on foot from bus stations".
  • By line 9, get off at the Pont de sèvre terminus, then take bus 169 towards Hôpital européen George Pompidou. Get off at Rabelais or Église de Meudon, then see § "Access on foot from bus stations".

Walking access from bus stations

  • Stop Observatoire de Paris (TIM): you arrive directly at Place Jules Janssen.
  • Stop Eglise de Meudon (bus 169 or 289): Go up rue de l’Eglise, turn right on D406, then left on rue Terre Neuve. Continue until you reach Place Jules Janssen. The climb takes about 5 minutes on foot (steep gradient).
  • Stop Place Rabelais (bus 169 or 389): join avenue Jacqueminot, then walk up to Place Jules Janssen. The climb takes 5-10 min on foot (moderate gradient).

Car access

  • From Orly airport (pdf document from www.viamichelin.fr).
  • Coming from Paris :
    • by ring road, exit at Quai d’Issy, follow signs for Issy les Moulineaux, Sèvres then Meudon
    • by route nationale 118, from Pont de Sèvres, follow signs for Chartres Orléans, exit at Meudon Sèvres then head for Meudon.
